The Wu-Tang Clan were the first hip hop group I fell in love with.  Each song had so many sounds and so many styles.  Their music put my brain in a pretzel and I couldn’t get enough.  I felt a connection to them on a personal level too.  They came together in Staten Island and I was born less than 20 minutes away in South Amboy, NJ.  I couldn’t help but think, “I bet these guys ate pork roll at Dot’s Diner too.”  “I bet they went to St. Mary’s basketball games too.”  Needless to say, I’m looking forward to seeing the fellas at WaMu Theater tomorrow night.

To get myself pumped for the show I’ve been bingeing their Showtime documentary, “Of Mics and Men.”  I’m almost positive you’ll enjoy it even if you’re not a Wu-Tang fan.  With that said, I’m trying to put out these throwback videos on the blog every Thursday so I had to go with something Wu-related this week.  Ol’ Dirty Bastard (RIP) isn’t with us anymore but he was one of my top 3 favorite members and this clip of him promoting his solo album on MTV is one of the reasons why.  Dude was outrageous.  Enjoy!

(P.S. If you ever check them out live and see what appears to be an ODB clone on stage with them, that’s because it kind of is.  It’s ODB’s son, Young Dirty Bastard.)
