Nas Is Releasing A Children's Book Inspired By 'I Can'

June 18, 2019

What I love most about our station is that each song is like a time machine.  With anything we play, if you close your eyes it takes you back to where you were and what you were doing when that song first came out.  Nas is one of my favorite artists of all time and when we play “I Can” it takes me back to senior year of high school, cruising around in my 92 Honda Accord with my buds Kiyo, Ron and Tony.  The “God’s Son” album was in heavy rotation in Xena Warrior Princess (what I named my car).

The album has so many classics on it.  “I Can” and “Made You Look” were the most mainstream songs and are probably the only ones you’ve heard of if you’re a casual Nas fan, but dig deeper and you’ll find gems like “Warrior Song” with Alicia Keys, a “Thugz Mansion” remix with Tupac, “Get Down” and “Zone Out” with the Bravehearts.

Ok, I’m done fanboying over one of my favorite artists and albums.  This blog is really about Nas announcing his new children’s book that references “I Can,” with the title “I Know I Can.”  The book’s mission is to “empower kids to be whatever they want to be when they grow up.”  Now that’s something I think we all can get behind!
