Hip Hop In Video Games - Snoop Dogg In True Crime: Streets of LA

The first two blogs in the “Hip Hop in Video Games” series covered rappers in sports games.  Today we have our first hip hop star appearance in an open world game – Snoop Dogg in “True Crime: Streets of LA.”

I’m 95% sure I’ve never played this game but the cover art looks so familiar that it’s possible I may have rented it one weekend back in 2003 when it was released.  IGN gave it a 9.0 rating so it must be pretty darn good.  True Crime was a third person, open world Grand Theft Auto-ish game where the character you control is a cop rather than a criminal like in the GTA world.  Actually, scratch that.  The character you control (for most of the game) is a cop.  The other playable character?  The Doggfather himself - Snoop D-O-Double-G.  Check out some of the Snoop gameplay footage below.
