Things That Didn't Exist When 'Friends' Premiered 25 Years Ago [LIST]

September 20, 2019

The 25th anniversary of “Friends” is on Sunday.  Do me a favor while you’re binge watching episodes this weekend to celebrate, ok?  Think of ALL the things that didn’t exist when the show first premiered.  It’s wild to think about how different the world is now compared to then.

Open YouTube (which didn’t exist then) in a new tab and play the theme song while you run down this list of things that were, at best, in the idea stages when episode 1 aired:

  • Smart phones
  • Social media (not even Myspace)
  • Febreeze
  • Airbnb
  • Lyft & Uber
  • GPS
  • Wikipedia
  • Video calls
  • Invisible braces
  • Gender reveal parties
  • Google
  • Nintendo 64
  • Texting
  • Online shopping
  • Online dating
  • HD TV
  • GPS
  • DVD’s
  • Digital cameras
  • Playstation (the first one)
  • Harry Potter

*BONUS* Justin Bieber was only 6 months old... YIKES!
