Questlove, Black Thought & AMC Team Up for The Rap Yearbook

The Roots will be executive producers on upcoming series

Get ready for a bass-filled visual trip through four decades of hip hop history! The AMC Network has announced that its brought Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter on board to be executive producers of the six-part, year-long documentary series, AMC Visionaries: The Rap Yearbook.

The docu-series will be based on the 2015 New York Times best-seller, The Rap Year Book: The Most Important Rap Song From Every Year Since 1979, Discussed, Debated, and Deconstructed, by Shea Serrano. The book's author took to Twitter to react to the news that AMC and The Roots will bring his book to life on the silver screen. 


AMC hasn't made the series title official, nor have they hinted at an air date other than to say sometime in 2018.
