We received news Tuesday that actor and director Penny Marshall passed away in her Hollywood Hills home Monday night at age 75.

She was such an amazing actor, comedian and a director! Some of her great works include the hit sitcom Laverne & Shirley, which ran for eight seasons on ABC. Penny did find much more success behind the camera, directing hit films like Big (1988), Awakenings (1990), A League of Their Own (1992), The Preacher's Wife (1996) and Riding in Cars With Boys (2001), among others. She would even make guest appearances in movies with her late brother Garry Marshall, one of the more memorable ones is everyone's Halloween favorite Hocus Pocus. She was the first woman to direct a movie (Big) that grossed $100 million! Which she also did again with A League of Their Own.

She is survived by her sister Ronny Marshall, daughter Tracy Reiner and her three grandchildren.

Her family said in a statement, "Our family is heartbroken over the passing of Penny Marshall. Penny was a tomboy who loved sports, doing puzzles of any kind, drinking milk and Pepsi together and being with her family. We hope her life continues to inspire other to spend time with family, work hard and make of their dreams come true."

RIP Penny. We thank you for all of your hard work!
